Saw a story yesterday concerning a couple who are now in their 90's. They had been engaged in May 1944. The bloke was a part of the D-Day landings (BA) and was wounded during the fighting. When he came home he was suffering from PTSD and this put the relationship with his fiancée under great strain. In the end they separated.

They both ended up finding partners with whom they would go on to marry and have children.

The man's wife died in 2011 and four years later he decided to look up the woman he had been engaged to back in 1944. He found her and discovered that she too was a widower. A month ago they got engaged for the second time and plan to marry later this year.

Burrumbuttock Hay Runners make record delivery of 13,600 hay bales to Ilfracombe farmers.

The group estimate their total hay donations at a staggering value of $AU6 million.

Comprised of 258 trucks, 406 trailers and 500 volunteers from across Australia, the convoy completed the 1800km journey from Burrumbuttock in NSW’s Riverina region to Ilfracombe yesterday.

The donations are expected to benefit 800 drought-affected farmers and feed approximately 300,000 animals.
