$30 a month to send messages to people, claiming it's a dating site... Why? What's so expensive about running a dating site? The free ones can do it without charging people. Is 'Singlelovelife' so fancy of a site that they can justify the price tag? Are the messages done with a gold background with raised, italic letters for the words?

Is there anything wrong with just putting a personal ad on Craigslist? I mean sure, you might get a response from some weird chick who likes to f*** horses, but when it comes to dating, you just gotta take a chance.

Well, the useful dating sites are mostly pay. The reason isn't that the funding creates a better site, but people are significantly less willing to make fake/troll accounts, or accounts that don't get updated or are not checked periodically, when you have to actually pony up money. When you're paying for the service, you're much more likely to use it and use it productively.

But this SLL site seems like a scam. Rates of women *responding* to men on dating sites are horrifically low; rates of women proactively messaging men approaches zero. Any site that is telling you that you have dozens of women trying to contact you while asking you to pay is lying to you, unless you're a celebrity or incredibly wealthy.

That's a good way to stop people from trolling for sure, but still the $30/month thing should've tipped off Sonic right away. Even if they seemed legit, they'd be pocketing too much of it while putting the bare minimum to site improvement.

I think this quote here sums it up perfectly.
