We are not discussing diverse opinion but what the dominate opinion (with the implied threats, force & laws on it's side) was about during the time.

Also, of course there was a dominate opinion, but it was hardly the only 1 and therefore, it's inaccurate to claim this person or that person was "ahead of their time" when they viewed the world very much within their time. That was my point.
