Toilet seat

I accidentally dropped my toothbrush into the toilet once......ONCE! Now the lid goes down if I'm anywhere near a bathroom.

Male....I put both seat and lid down, but not out of politeness, proper etiquette, not even to please my girlfriend.

As with Sparklegirl, if I leave the lid up my pet (cat in my case) will start drinking from the toilet.

I am not sure about the health science of it, but it disgusts me.

See... I told you that rinsing your mouth with toilet water would end badly...

Fair enough, you got me. I put the seat down when I'm taking a piss, just to annoy my female friends.

That is what I have always wondered. Women will say "It's not a big deal, just put it down!" but then why don't more men answer "Well if it's not a big deal to move it, you put it back up!"

I don't freak out over it one way or the other, but I do prefer putting the seat and the lid down just because it's "safer." I've almost dropped countless objects into open toilets before so now I always leave the lid down. Plus the germs thing kind of gets to me. I'm not sure if it's actually true but it's more of a mental thing for me.

I'm a Male, and I put just the seat down when I am done.

Another vote for: I'm a female and put/leave just the seat down. Hmmmm... thinking about closing the lid too. I had a comb go into the bowl and had to throw the comb away. YUK

I used to put it down because I got used to living with dogs. Partner conditioned me to leaving it up again - Apparently she often times hits the pot a split second before eruption.

I just saw a South Park episode the other day and this was one of its topics. In the end, it was revealed that we are all using the toilet seat wrong. We're supposed to sit on the seat backwards so you have a little table for your book.

I'm with Dark_Tnk on the particles! LOL... How true and I don't leave my toothbrush in the bathroom either, FYI...

Ok, back to the seat... I usually put both down at home, to cut down on particles of course...

Public restrooms are a bit more complicated... If a top lid is provided, I will put it down. The challenge begins when I actually flush... I make sure my purse etc. is ready, I open the stall door without flushing yet, turn around and s-t-r-e-t-c-h my foot to the handle, then bolt... My problems occur when someone is in a hurry to get in the stall and I bump into them on the way out. Seriously! LOL!
