$2.88 at the moment.

I never thought I'd think $2.88 a gallon was cheap.

Indeed, Americans cannot suggest they are ripped off on petrol

I think the bad part is that we typically have farther to drive.

I was surprised to see unleaded today at ARCO for $3.99 per gallon in Sacramento California. It was selling for less recently, and just went up. I really expect to see $5.00 per gallon by summer.

The gas is the same, but when the price goes up the money is worth less, (worthless). I bought a lot of 62 cent per gallon gas when Reagan was President.

When I was a young boy I took my gas can to the gas station to buy gas for my lawnmower. It was a one gallon can. I took a whole quarter (25 cent piece US) to make sure I had enough money to fill the can.

Unleaded regular gas has not been below $1.00/per gallon since 1978, so you must mean that you bought a lot of 62 cent gas when Nixon was president.

Are you sure about that? I remember filling up two tanks of gas before leaving Spokane in 2002 because it was $.99 per gallon.

I can remember seeing prices on the pumps as low as $0.169, but I can't remember how to get back to that point in time.

I started driving in the 90's and bought it at less than a dollar, so yes, I do believe that under Reagan it was $.69. Ours is currently $3.59.
