Taking out insurance or renewing your insurance policies

I just received my car insurance renewal quote this morning and wasn't impressed with the quote offered so I hopped onto a compare site and got a quote for £150 cheaper with the same company


I know with cars, you can't avoid insurance, if you want to be legal that is.

What about optional protection cover?

health insurance?

house and contents insurance?

pet insurance?

car break down cover?

When it comes to insurance, how important is it to you and what level of cover do you opt for?

Have you paid for cover and found out later that actually, your cover was useless?

I have when my car broke down sometimes, its best to go with what you know rather than the price you like.

Insurance is one of those grown up things I have yet to become acquainted with, good thing too as it sounds quite confusing

I think I'd just stick to the essentials though, i.e. pet, house and life insurance. Anything else would be extraneous to my lifestyle.

I didn't think health insurance was a thing over here though, seeing as we have the NHS
