Clearly, but I don't recall my income being part of my paperwork for the doctor. Of course, I seldom go, so I could have just forgotten that part.

What I was getting at is, she received this poor treatment because she was uninsured. I think that's a terrible reason.

Oh thank you. I thought I'd missed something.

That's because you had insurance.

It is starting in 2014. https://healthreform.kff.org/SubsidyCalculator.aspx

Boy, I hope they're going to adjust that in the future.

The only options for family size are "single person" and "family of 4."

No I didn't. Oh wait...once upon a time, I did.

But even when I went back and told them I was paying out of pocket, they didn't ask for any income information. I suppose it could be different from doctor to doctor or hospital to hospital.

Hospitals typically ask for your insurance, and how you plan on paying for your care.

Yeah, it's just an estimator at this point. It's not official or complete.

I see. I haven't been to a hospital in years and I had insurance at the time.

That still seems to be a crap decision (by the hospital) based on a little information.

Doesn't mean the hospital will give you good care.

"When Wendy Parris shattered her ankle, the emergency room put it in an air cast and sent her on her way. Because she had no insurance, doctors did not operate to fix it. A mother of six, Ms. Parris hobbled around for four years, pained by the foot, becoming less mobile and gaining weight."

Well, i assume make like $5,000 your insurance bill will probably be like $50/year.

Well, assume yourself wrong whiz kid.

Insurance companies are regulated, and if they're found to be gouging customers, they'll be held accountable.

They already are gouging customers.

True from our standpoint.. but not true from a legal one.
