No you don't........that's just silly IMO! I am not Trayvon...that is exactly why I used myself when I tried to explain that the fact is, Trayvon and I reacting or handling that same tragic night, and the events that unfolded before, during, and after......by the sheer logic of it all......I am a completely different person than Trayvon was. So naturally I would have done things completely opposite than the UNARMED teen. Even if I were his same age, I know myself.....and that cellphone I was taking on at the time zimmerman approached me would have been an undisputed unquestioned key to whatever outcome there was. I would have had 911 on the line the very second zimmerman said his first word to me! If he shot me dead........I couldn't tell my side of the events.....the dispatcher would have been recording the whole exchange. See what I mean? One more thing..I will NEVER attack ANYONE unless I was attacked FIRST! So there......the outcome would have been very different....regardless if I was shot and killed or not!
I'm sure you are 110 % correct about you as a grown woman would have handled the situation totally different then martin did as a young adult male. You wouldn't have attacked Zimmerman , you I'm sure would have told him what he needed to know to understand that you were a guest there in the community etc... plus since the recent home break ins weren't being done by black 50 year old women but by black young males, Zimmerman probably would have approached you differently.
There is one detail that seems to be completely lost in the mess.
Zimmerman had no idea Martin was a 17 year old kid. All he knew was here was a young male person with gold dental work and gangster like mannerisms , gang style tats, a non resident out and about in gated community in late evening .
I raised two sons, and 17 year old young men , especially ones trying to show off for a girl, Martin was talking to his g/f on the phone, they will be belligerent and talk bad a** and defiant add all that together and I do believe Zimmerman was unaware that it was a 127 year old kid with a bottle of tea and a bag of candy that was facing him.
Don't take me wrong, Zimmerman being the adult / older of the two and acting as a neighborhood watch handled the deal way wrong, but I also believe Martin handled his part in the deal wrong also. I think when push came to shove , there was two really scared guys and the outcome is f***wed up for two families with no way to go back and change it. Then throw into the mix all Zimmermans lies and his wife's lying to boot , a bad deal gone worse.
