We need to get over this "Oh no I'm consider a conspiracy theorist" just because of something like this. Who the hell cares anymore? This is our free speech we are talking about. for god sakes people.

It's not just free speech. If they can predict the swings of opinion using data from social sites and idle chatter, then they have a MASSIVE weapon to use in affecting the general public.

no its both! You are absolutely right. Without the internet the people can only listen to the news that the government shows us and WANTS us to see. This is exactly what I mean.

If anyone starts ragging you about it, point out Actuarial Charts as a perfect example of data collecting. They predict how many people will die in any given group each year, and Insurance companies use that data to make a profit.

SOPA/PIPA = politically manipulative "Social Actuarial Data".

Think SOPA and PIPA were bad? I know this might be late since it was suggested the 10th of this month but still this should be addressed. Now look out for the NEW sopa/pipa. It is called CISPA.

Apparently although the guy who owns Facebook was against SOPA he's for CISPA. I don't really know much about the new law except that it doesn't sound promising.

yeah a lot of people are threatening to delete their face book accounts if it passes in July and since he supports it.

Why are people scared, or making a big thing out of STOPA, ACTA et al, the only people that are going to be affected are those that ilegaly download or stream material. You tube wont be any less full of junk, nor will it have a detrimental affect on your freedom of speach, just your freedom to download ilegal content, so if you want to watch American Pie5without going to the pictures you'll have to use something like net flix, and forget downloading kiddie porn.

If anything the monitoring will help you to get heard by the powers that be.

Personally I wont be that fussed about not being able to stream anymore from megavideo, I know its technically ilegal to pirate films, I just got away with it because the powers that be didnt have anything in place that could do anything about me doing it. So anyone that is distraught about it should IMHO, spend a few hours a day away from the PC spouting drivvel.

If that happened this site would have nobody on it.
