In the first story, a Court has handed down an $80 million judgment in a smoking case,
leaving me wondering how tobacco companies afford the damages they are being ordered to
pay?

In the second story, a religion may outlaw smoking:

interesting, they do give warnings on the packets now. so obviously that didn't help them.
as for affording the payouts, prices will go up and third world countries will get more and more cigarettes to keep the profits coming in.
