I was given a tin full of old coins the other day,in it is a coin/medal for want of a term to call it.
It was minted back in 1965,but on the back is an effigy of Winston Churchill and the date 1965.

Have you ever seen one of these, and was just minted in Churchill name in his memory as a medal?.

Thanks for the help in advance.

It sounds like one of the crowns which were specially minted as commemorative coins when Churchill died in 1965. I remember it well. My dad took me and my brothers to london for the day of the state funeral and we stood in Whitehall all day waiting for the gun carriage carrying him to go past. There were tens of thousands lining the streets that day to pay their respects. It was a misty day, freezing cold and I just wanted to go home but it meant a lot to dad.

as you can see from the link, a lot depends on the condition of the coin. It could be worth a little or a lot. Good luck.

Thank you for the help ,it turns out my mother was given the coin in 1965,so really it hasn't been circulating at all,now which one it is I have no idea but I'll try a few coin dealers.
Thanks again I appreciate it.
