how do u make instant pudding not so runny

I have bee using instant pudding mixed for 40 years and never once has any not set up thick until the one I just made 3 days ago. I did one thing different this time and that was I use cold almond milk. I mixed it very well like I have always done and it was runny. Lesson learned is don't use almond milk.
