It generally means "a small amount".

Dont picture it as the object ur drawing. This accesses the left side of ur brain. ur not drawing what u see, ur drawing what u think u see. view it as shapes and proportions, this includes shadows and colors. DRAW WHAT YOU SEE!

Yeah sketching and painting here and there. Sometimes practice on other artists' work but i want to start producing my own.

I've done some of that, myself... Like, imitating/copying Chinese scroll paintings, using pen and ink, and watercolors....

yeah thats basically what i do i copy paintings though. but id like to start making my own. not sure how to start :S

Years ago, one could watch TV shows with artists that would demonstrate various techniques to achieve a desired effect. The instruction was free, but you were learning techniques that yielded an almost stereotypical painting...

Today, if you are unable to spend a lot on learning, you could look at the videos that are available on the internet, and imitate those that you like. All you would have to do is come up with the materials...

Here's a bunch of instructional videos that you can watch until you get the hang of it....

Good luck with the self-instruction process!
