I did learn a lot of the codes by quoting people that used them, so I could see what they were.

Exactly, that's what I did. I joined in '06 and there was no button for all the smilies, you had to learn them and often that was just by word of mouth and quoting older members who knew the special stuff

I'm pretty sure you have to earn so many points to get the "more" smileys.

But if anyone cares to have any that they see on the boards, simply click the oraange quote thingy in the lower right hand corner of the post, and copy the code.

Those aren't the ones the OP is talking about. You can add custom ones, but you don't have access to the 'More' ones until you gain a certain number of points.
