Traffic Light Law

Hi all, I am currently having an argument with my partner about taking your hands off the steering wheel while sitting at traffic lights (Red Light). he said this is ok but i am sure that this is against the law. I know this sounds a stupid argument but i am 38 weeks pregnant and am a bit mental but if someone could please help i would be grateful especially if i end up being right

If you're so sure it's against the law, quote the law that prohibits it.

you don't even need to have both hands on the wheel while you are driving so i don't see why you would have to have them both on there when you are stationary.

and they are not really into the whole 'highway code' thing.

It would be pretty silly to have a law that prohibits you from removing your hands from the steering wheel. How would you shift?

Why would you take your hands off the wheel at traffic lights?

Because it's safer than doing it while you're driving, hoppy, duh!

Where I come from that law does not exist.
