This is my proposed solution to the "'lol' not really meaning 'laughing out loud'" conundrum.

So go ahead, use it, and worry no longer! Next I will work on the "conveying sarcasm in text" issue...

oh yeah, the SarcMark It was turned into a giant joke, and I presume no one uses it, given that they wanted to charge some kind of licensing fee to be able to use it, lol.

No, my point was that "lol" doesn't actually mean "laughing out loud" anymore. It is, in effect, "vlol" as it is. But if you *actually* laugh out loud, using "lol" doesn't indicate that anymore.. So a new acronym is needed to indicate that.
