Butter on green beans?

I love green beans. I bought a steamer bag of fresh green beans and made them for dinner tonight. Normally I just steam them and eat them. But the directions said to put butter, salt and pepper on them. I also read of a recipe in a magazine that called for butter and Parmesan cheese on them.

Now once in a while I have made green beans or beans and carrots with a
little olive oil.But never butter. But I decided to try it.

I didn't like it! I didn't like it at all! Maybe it's because I grew up
eating plain vegetables. Mostly they were canned but once in a while they were fresh. My grandma did make beans with bacon in them, but I only remember having those a few times.

So... Do you put butter on your beans? I think the only veggie I ever put butter on is potatoes. I don't even like it on corn. Once in a while on popcorn, but usually I even prefer that without.

Never used butter on green beans. Peas... sure.

I grew up with bacon in greens beans. I do like them cooked that way.

No butter on popcorn but on my sweet potatoes and corn... yeppers.

Yes! My mom makes it all the time. Saut� with a little butter, add lemon/lime for flavor.

Delicious.

Butter is nice every once in a while; but I much prefer sauteing them in a bit of olive oil. It tastes better, imo, and it's much healtier as well.

Yes! You can saute with Little butter and than add lemon for flavour on top

it will be Delicious.

Latika, you just put on your green beans whatever you like. If butter is great for new taters, then why not a knob of butter? Sometimes I'll do and poached egg and put it over my green beans.. even asparagus is king with a poshed egg crowned on it. Yummm..

You could try a knobbing your greenies with unsalted butter, and a pinch of Maldon salt to taste. Sea salt has a very pronounced taste, so less is used. It's lovely with them beans.

Sauteed in bacon fat. With bacon bits. And onions. With a bit of vinegar and sugar.

A lot of people don't like butter. But most do, and put it on their green beans. I surely do.

But I wish I was like you though, and didn't like it.
