Bob, really, I see no need for this. Why would I seek to defend "Buddhism", and why do you imply that I would? Persecution is persecution, no theories are needed. Its all about looking at specks in another's eye rather than logs in our own.......if you want a theory.
The trouble is that fundamentalists need little excuse to kill, as seen by the bomb explosion in Northern Ireland. Hatred is all too easy, as is self delusion, just more families are disrupted, even if 'mother' nature kills more. We need more forgiveness. Sadly the extreemists don't want a debate just headlines. I hope families of extreemists will rethink their loyalties and be prepaired to disown voilence and those, however close kin, who choose to kill at random.
