Good idea, maxi. Anyway, you get more satisfaction from making one yourself.

I've bought another armful of books in the last few days plus quite a lot of really good clothing. David found two pairs of Levi's, about £4.00 each. I'm addicted and as there are at least 8 in the town now I'm pop-eyed with lust.

Depends what you're into (thrift stores are usually good for popular fiction books and books that someone might be required to read for school, but poor if you like more obscure things.)

I did once find a random reprinting of a Buster Keaton movie script in a thrift shop, though. That was interesting.

I just happened to wander into one of our local charity shops yesterday and they just happened to have a one-day book sale (3 paperbacks for £1.50). I bought 7 of them which would have cost me just over £60 new but I got them for £4 and they were all 2010 publications. I can't afford new books but why would I bother as I've got several secondhand shops and a damn fine library?

I think charity shops are brilliant & I have bought lots of books. New book so expensive. The library are good & will order books in for you if they havn't got what you want.

I dc the same thing with my library: order books online after having a look through Amazon to see what's being published in the future, so that I haven't got to pay through the nose for new books. The library also has regular book sales of redundant stock. Between them and our charity shops I get all the books I need and more (I'll never read all the books that I own).

I buy all my books from the library because I LOVE the library so much and would be extremely sad if a library closes more than an actual book store.

Anyways, yesterday I bought Empire Falls by Richard Russo for fifty cents. I so excited.

And about three weeks ago, I managed to snag 7 books for $1.50. One was a readers digest book that had four books in one so I got a true bargain with that one.

I've found so many great books in charity shops. I would say up until I purchased my Kindle 50% of the books I got where from them.
