What should determine law?

Should law be based on morality or should law be arbitrary based on the opinions of the legislator or Sovereign.

Perhaps you think law should be based on 'natural law' the core moral laws of basic humanity. Perhaps not.

What constitutes a just law?

Its a really difficult thing to answer. Nothing is black and white and to make a law is making it black and white.

See Im thinking about the european human rights laws and how some of those will change UK law and in some cases it seems a bit unfair, like the prisoners votes.

I dont have much problem with how we pass laws through parliament at the moment.

I don't think law should be based on morality, shaped by it sure, but never based because moral are highly subjective.

I think law should be based on reason, nothing more. Reason in the sense that law should promote the well being of society in general.
