can you download free ebooks from on the computer?

Yes, you can,... but only the free ones. Check out GoogleBooks. Most of the out-of-copyright volumes are made available to the public, at no cost. One con to these 'free' ebooks, however, is that they are created with the use of OCR, and -- from what I've seen -- nobody, but nobody, does any proof-reading. That is why I still prefer to download their volumes as PDF-files. That also presents problems, and some of these readers cannot handle the PDF-format properly.

I would guess you still have to pay for a subscription to some sort of internet service, just to be able to facilitate the downloads, regardless of whether the ebooks are free, or not.

Yes! There are plenty of sites that offer free downloads for your Nook! Here is a list of different resources for free eBook downloads Check them out before purchasing anything!

Amazon has a free PC app for their kindle. I use it. You can get alot of free books for it.

I thought that s*** was illegal? I know its been a long time since i've been on tfs, we're allowed to talk about that stuff?
