International Aid Money Spent On Pope

MPs have asked ministers to explain why ?1.85m ($3m) from the international development budget was spent on the Pope's UK visit in September.

Think of the uproar UK would face had the pope visited and something bad happened to him while there, had UK not spent the money on security, etc.

Yeah we should be grateful that millions of pounds intended to help international aid was spent so a man who has spent his career covering up child sex crimes can come visit out country.

Looks like we're both in the same boat and all we can do is b**** about it. You, about the pope's visit. Me, about Obama's rabid socialism.

What are these people actually on? He's only just admitted that condoms might be useful in 'certain circumstances' against HIV/AIDS...yeah that's really providing education and promoting health

It amazes me how hypocritical the pope is. When you devote life to God, you're supposed have no material things.or few of them. The point is, he's a hypocrite!!!

He has spoken out against consumerism. I don't think he personally owns the material things...they just belong to the office he holds.

Benedict XVI has condemned excessive consumerism, especially among youth. He stated in December 2007 that "[A]dolescents, youths and even children are easy victims of the corruption of love, deceived by unscrupulous adults who, lying to themselves and to them, draw them into the dead-end streets of consumerism."[70]

In June 2009, he blamed outsourcing for greater availability of consumer goods which lead to downsizing of social security systems
