They will be going to freelance writers for the second season. Not sure how that will pan out.
S1 has six eps and S2 is contracted for 13.

i seen 3 shows, yes, i could see that darbont is right, about letting go some writers, yes, i do like the show! i thought interesting that the reunion of sheriff and his family was too early in the story, because what he does have to worry about now, you what i mean ! with the group that he joined, need more story lines to make them more interest, the big deal with the sheriff find out of his wife and his best friend fooled around! the walking dead, they have get more interest. darbont think about this, too, and he fired these writers, the episodes are weak and need more development! he made a very smart move !

From what I have heard, the storyline is going by what happens in the graphic novels.

i never read the novels, but obviously, darabont doesn't like how the writers is adapting from the novels. i never read " watchmen " novels, but i sat watched 45 minutes of the movie, i was really bad! one of the reason why marvel superheroes are easy to adapt and very successfully at movie theaters ! stan lee, creator of marvel comics, always develops the person and who he or she is first, and then the superhero! it is harder to get a big audience to this kind of tv show, and amc is smart use only 6 episodes this season, and renew it for 13 more episodes next season. i noticed that bbc had a similar show like this one, called " the surviors ", it last for two seasons.

it was already expected coz they didn't do their job well, the story was really weak which turn the show down. I seen just 2 episodes and they were really boring.
