OMG - I think I won the lottery, not. I am so embarrassed.

It seems while I am sleeping my hotmail account is busily at work sending out emails to my contacts with a link and if you click on the link, you learn all about viagra and where to by it.

What is going on? Do I have a worm? How do I deworm?

(I had to send out an email of explanation to all of the people who I work with and all of my contacts. This is not the sort of thing I want going on professionally.)

You've been hacked. A lot of that has been going around with hotmail accounts. I have received the same type of spam from friends who have been in my contact list forever.

Just change your password and you will be fine.

I think everyone who got the emails realize your account got hacked.....dont worry!

Sounds like you've had your account hacked, try changing the password see if it helps.

Hotmail does not make it easy to change your password. I am hearing from other people that they are receiving random messages about prozac and this and that.

If your struggling to change the password or cant do it at all then the only suggestion I can make is to create another account add all your contacts and then delete the original one.

More likely a trojan than being hacked, especially if you're using an email client such as Outlook. I tend to feel that people use "hacked" as a general statement on issues, rather than truely being hacked.

Chances are, you've clicked on a link whilst in Hotmail and off it went.

What is a trojan? These emails seem to go out at night when I am sleeping.

Run a good anti virus and anti malware scanner, and have them turned to the highest protection settings possible.

hot mail used to have an email filter...If it still does, set up a new account and set the filter to where you get no mail except what you ask for, and from friends and family.
