Right now in Maryland, there's a lot of propaganda for and against having a slot parlor in the mall (which was allowed by the Maryland State Senate and the Anne Arundel County Council).

There's this commercial on TV with people saying things like;
"I will not take my kids to the mall if there is a slot parlor!"

"I need a safe place for my kids to play and shop!"

"This is a family friendly mall! Slots don't belong here!"

Dude...
Wtf is the big deal?
They aren't putting a brothel in the mall, they're putting a few slot machines in the mall! Chill out!

Hmmm a grown up arcade. I like it. I see no reason why it would be dangerous for kids.

but but... gambling is a sin ... i don't think it is a big deal either. but i do think you should have to verify your age before playing. and a drivers license will do that just fine.

I mean I know there are people who have gambling issues, but what are they afraid of?
That their kid is going to get stolen and gambled in a game of SLOTS?

I think they will card people, just like they do at liquor stores and bars.

well gambling does have some serious consequences, I would suppose it would be about not exposing kids to it, in thinking its just a game.

I dont know that is unsafe, but it is still illegal in a lot of places and even when it is legal, there are supposed to be strict carding and no minors allowed in the area.

Kinda seems anti-mall, but I don't know that I would personally make a big deal about it.

But if they set it up in an actual shop, maybe with smoked or mirrored glass and carded everyone before they came in...I cant see the harm.

Heck, there are bars in the bowling alleys where kids go. They've managed to police them just fine.

The parlor won't be all that visible from the outside unless you're IN the parlor.

It could be like Hollister or Abercrombie. They don't have windows.

Oh it wouldn't bother me personally at all, Im just surprised the state allowed it to even be somewhere easily accessible. Most places in the country don't allow them at all. or its some place that requires traveling to a specific location like riverboat gambling and Indian casinos.
