Okay, so I was cooking and the smoke alarm went off (I wasn't even aware there was smoke but w/e) and so I opened a window and hit the smoke detector with the end of broom a few times. Then my mom came up and fanned it and it stoped.

Shortly after that, it began to chirp every 30-45 seconds.
We've never changed the battery since we got the thing years ago, so I think that's it, but is it likely I hurt it? lol:

Depends on how hard you hit it with the broom. Anything can break.. So it could have happened. Might want to get the landlord to check it out tho, because I think they usually give new ones for free.

You just need a new battery... Everytime ours or anybody's that I know goes off, it starts doing that...

I always get up the table and reach and took wires off at prev place.
But at this place, the detectors are either in hallway or at places where there're no tables or such so I can't reach them.

Good thing nothing's gone off yet.
