it's given off a negative image, yes, but this is NOT what Catholicism is about and its a stereotype to think so; thats my point. Just because a few parishes have lost sight of that, does not mean the religion itself stands for anything less. The Vatican NEVER condoned these acts, so anyone who thinks this is what Catholicism is about is DEAD-WRONG. The core beliefs have not changed, thats what i'm saying. Who says these members of the church weren't punished?!?!?! For the last time, its NOT acceptable behavior and i take offense to people who are ignorant enough to say that. See, here's what alot of people dont understand: Catholics believe in the authority of the Vatican, whereas, Protestants believe authority lies within each believer. if you disagree, then fine, but DONT judge me as a Catholic and accuse me of not doing my job because obviously, you DONT understand my faith.

This is an overview of basic beliefs of the Catholic church; it IS a strict religion. These beliefs have not altered, despite those who have committed these terrible acts. Yes, their acts have given off a bad image, i'm not denying that, BUT i'm tired of people acting as though these crimes are apart of the faith, itelf. Thats all my point was, why is it so hard for people to understand that simple concept?
Sox, I hear where you're coming from, but I have a question.
Wouldn't it be logical, given the outline for requirements of a church leader...if that leader failed to uphold those standards, shouldn't they be asked (or required) to step down? How can someone who doesn't follow the rules be the leader?
