Really? Then what is it?

The Senate is one of two branches of the legislative branch of the United States federal government. The Senate has many distinct duties, but its primary role is to enact legislation - that is, pass laws of all sorts that concern the nation as a whole.

The Senate is also uniquely tasked with the duties of approving Presidential appointments and trying impeachments.

Congress in general is tasked with borrowing money, regulating commerce, establishing naturalization rules, monetary regulation, declare war, collect money, pass appropriations bills, regulate and fund national defense, regulate commerce among the states, etc.

Is it an old term then?

As far as I know, the term didn't exist before Jim Henson created The Muppets. The term itself is apparently a combination of marionette and puppet.

And they were like what, 1980's? My mum uses the word Muppet a lot.

The 50s, actually. The Muppet Show itself was on in the late 70s and early 80s, but the characters and name were used on Sesame Street and Sam and Me in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

What It Means

Ruling Today

I think the Supreme Court will rule today that Americans, all Americans have the constitutional right to carry guns and states and cities can not limit that right! This is huge and if the cour rules as I suspect will be an affirmation of liberty as the founders intended! I will almost immediately go out and buy a gun!

Those that mean that they might remove one of rights in the bill?

If Illinois is like DC or The People's Republic of California you may not get to exercise your right even if they uphold the constitution. They might pull some DC-type BS and attempt to fool people into accepting a semi-automatic handgun is a "machine gun" with some loose definition that really makes no logical sense. I got mine before Arny started screwing with our laws. *hugs my XD-45* I hope you actually get to at least touch your rights.
