We Sit Back Laughing While You Wait.

To be honest I've been on both sides of this and I can really empathize with your frustrations with the patients and viewing it from a being a patient myself I can say that although I do know you are all very busy and priorities are priorities, when I'm in excruciating pain and have been waiting for over 3 hours without relief I will firmly approach the triage nurse and ask what the delay is.

Pain makes people say and do things they wouldn't otherwise say nor do and yes at that time of pain I am very selfish because only I can feel that pain and my total being is on 'me' at this point and very hard to empathize with the staff.

Although I do empathize with the other patients and calm them down if they're getting nasty.
