Okay, how do you know?

Because they don't have the means to feel pain.

@grasshopper Said

What ones have seperate genders then? And how can you tell? Sounds weird...

Plants don't have separate genders. (in the sense that animals have separate genders.)

No, you don't. Plants aren't gender specific.

Ok. So why does one make babies and the other just sits there, then?

Some biologists used to say that about dogs though (ages ago). They used to do operations, and say the screams were just escaping air. Amazing how scientists change their minds, init?

Yeah, and since it used to be thought that the earth was flat...I wonder if the moon really is made of cheese?

Plants are both male, female and hermaphroditic as we would assign gender associations. What it really means is if the plant has both male and female reproductive parts or if the plant is differentiated into one having the male parts and the other the female parts.

Science has shown t hat plants do react negatively and positively to stimuli, so it would go to reason that, although it may be in ways we don't understand, they have "feelings". They are alive as we understand it, but as to pain, duress, etc. it stands to reason they do feel these things in ways we don't yet comprehend.

What's the positive stimulus, sunlight? Is the negative stimulus pressure from someone's foot?
