Well gosh. When my power company tells me that's why...

Your power company told you that they're going to provide California with power and they're going to up your rates because of it?

Yep. Nice huh? So basically, what I'm getting from this conversation is that they're getting paid by California (possibly a discounted rate?) and then hiking our rates to make up for it. Spooty electric company.

Yeah?

Show me a copy of the letter or web site (or other statement) where your power company told you that they're raising your rates so that they can provide free electricity to California residents.

Honey that was years ago. I'm not even with the same power company. I will admit, it didn't say that it would be free to them, but it did cite their energy crisis as the reason our rates were going up.

I dunno, I can't find a single page about anyone providing free electric to California. If there was, I would imagine there would be at least something on it.

Could be due to a higher demand.

How convenient.

Maybe I'll move to California so I don't have to pay for electricity anymore. Sounds nice.

Sarcasm aside, your rates went up because demand was going up and supply wasn't. That means market prices go up. You appear to have simply misunderstood what they were telling you.

What does this have to do with anything?
