The bible is made up of two parts, I do not doubt that many of the stories in the old Testament are the equivalent of historical records and some may've happened. However, I am of firm belief that 99% of the "new" testament is utter lies and fabrication.

The Bible is a thick book. 1% is a healthy amount of data. (How it's physically healthy, do not ask.)

The Bible is good for starting a fire. I have one by my fireplace and during the winter i rip a few pages out to use as kindling. I think it should last a few more years before i need to go out and get another one

Bibles are also good for making your bed straight on wonkey floors.

Umm, yes there is.

Time to start reading! Start here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historicity_of_Jesus

"essentially all scholars in the relevant fields agree that the mere historical existence of Jesus can be established using documentary and other evidence."

There are only four non religious texts mentioned there, three of them only refer to "Christ" or "Christus" which, as I'm sure you're aware, is the Greek for "The anointed one", and generally speaking, is a title that could be given to anyone. The first text mentioned, "by" Josephus
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historicity_of_Jesus#Josephus), has been proven to be a fake more times that Sharon Osborne's chin.

Thankyou, and goodnight.

If Dawkins wants my respect, he needs to take on the only other rational position on the existence of God, deism.

The only rational position eh? I'd say it suffers from the same 'sky hook' method of explanation as theist arguments.

@ThePainefulTruth Said
I'd volunteer, but I don't think he'd come down out of his gold plated ivory tower.

No he'd say this:

"The deist God is certainly an improvement over the monster of the Bible. Unfortunately it is scarcely more likely that he exists, or ever did. In any of its forms the God Hypothesis is unnecessary.* The God Hypothesis is also very close to being ruled out by the laws of probability."

@ThePainefulTruth Said
And why should he? It's too much fun and too profitable to keep picking on the intellectual 90 pound weakling.

I don't see what you suggest? Should people who make ridiculous claims to the nature of the universe be simply left alone to live a delusion?

As an educator and scientist I think you can see why Dawkins would take issue to such an opnion.

Do you remember the username? It could've been a troll whose posts always get quarantined.

With a username like that, I'm guessing the post was labeled as spammed and put into quarantine.

"Omnes relinquete spes ovos entrantes O_O...*some more latin chanting*, but really, religions are silly. They all hold the same amount of evidence (none) and they all think they are correct...to the point of killing each other..which....a lot of their religions forbid <_<. "

That's what I said -_-, then said it would be cool if anyone was an online shopper that they go to my site. What's wrong with that? It's not like the whole post was about the website, it was just a plug at the end, but w/e. So like I was saying, the highly religious are an ironic and paradoxical bunch. "thou shalt not kill...sometimes"
