I just got an old emachine T3025 running. Now for some reason, I can't watch any videos on youtube. I can come here, read the screen, go other places online. Anyone got any idea? My wife went on youtube on her laptop and it worked fine. Software issue? Firewall? Any thoughts? My brain hurts. I'm too old to learn new tricks. Please help the old fart.

I had Adobe flash version 6. It's up to version 10. All ok now. Also had to let add-ons run on websites after install.

What specific problem are you having with viewing youtube? maybe it's your graphics card or something?

They're made by two totally different companies, Microsoft doesn't care if you want flash on your computer or not. But Youtube usually has a message that tells you to update Flash if your version is out of date. Some people prefer not to have flash because it's a resource hog on your computer, and lots of ads use flash so if you don't have flash you don't see the ads.

If you use the browser Firefox you can get an add-on that blocks most ads for you.

Firefox is a great browser. So is Chrome. Both have ad blockers available. I'm guessing you're using Internet Explorer? IE is the slowest browser available. Even aside from add-ons and ad blockers, I still would recommend switching.

You can also use a hosts file, like this one, to stop unwanted ads. MVPS Hosts file

What it does is redirect the browser, so that the ads never display. Speeds up the browser quite a bit.
