Just in case, for you Dogknox, how do you explain the fact that Thomas Aquinus used the philosophical basics of Aristole to write his Summa? And quite well too. For shame that the church fathers were all well educated in all the learning disciplines, history, math, geography etc. of that time and the current philsophical schools of thought used to refine and refute the perversion of the gospels! And on the abilities of the God-given cognitive abilities that grow with knowledge to perfect and understand the pearls of meaning written in the culture of the time, to the immense leaps in understanding of thought that has flowered and grown to this day? This enables us all to take the heart of the matter to a modern perspective to live out the faith in our time. There was more to the Church Fathers than just Scripture, albeit, that was the foundational material that a more comprehensive and flowering of thought has kept it (Scriptures) relevent to our times. Without reading knowledge and comprehension, the Scriptures would be locked away for everyone. Now what was the most irrational call of "Scripture alone"?
