Do our parents' past influence our future?

I don't know what it is about this situation, but for some reason, it happens. We are their children, after all. It would be weird if we didn't do anything at all that resembled them. Maybe I'm getting it wrong, I don't know.

My dad and I are very similar in our behavior. When I was 15, I did some s*** that apparently he did when he was my age, even though I didn't learn about his... past actions until I was 18. Coincidence? Maybe...
