Sadly, yes, I am an English teacher. The sentence is somewhat ambiguous, and I was trying to clarify the intent. Remove the first comma, or, replace it with an ";". The little threw me, as I did not know if that was in place of a full stop or not...
Meh, just cos I'm qualified to teach English doesn't mean I'm great at it!?!?! In fact, one thing I have noticed is that my English skills have declined over the years. Constantly reading bad spelling and grammar actually does negatively effect your writing skillz.
