Is this true?

And more importantly, does it mean that the person letting go does'nt have to put any effort in to keeping the relationship cause if the saying is correct, the person will come back anyway?

well i dont think this should be tested to prove a point exactly, but if they did love you then they would try and get you back yes.

This really all depends on what you are letting go of. Sometimes a person lets go not wanting the other to come back, but they do again, and again.

i would just keep proving things and bringing things from the past that i have done for her i dont think she could doubt for one minute i didnt love her unless i had cheated which is never gonna happen.

If something you stand to lose doesn't motivate you to fight for it .. probably means it's not that important to you.
