Well, don't pregnant horses in the wild run hard from danger? Why should this be any different?

I say f*** it, you only get so many chances to be a World Champion, either you're in it for that, or you're just playing games.

Pregnant women would run like hell from danger too, but it doesn't make it good for the baby or comfortable for the mother. You're never supposed to gallop your pregnant horse though, especially in the later months.

Well I dunno, it's just a thought. But I heard from a friend that jumping won't hurt the baby, but running will. I dunno...

I'm not really sure how high the danger is to the baby for either one, but both become rather painful for the mother anyway. And it does seem like good common sense to avoid hard running and jumping while you're pregnant.

My good freind announced to me that her 17 year old daughter is 13 weeks pregnant. Her daughter is a champion barrell racer and will be going to the Worlds. If it's calculated, she will have the baby 1 week before she goes down to the states. I spoke to my friend and voiced my concerns with her teen daughter riding throughout her pregnancy. She's a good rider and she rides fast and hard!!!! I'm really surprised that my girlfriend would let her teen daughter ride her horse everyday. Does anybody know how it can put this unborn baby in danger? I would think it could be dangerous for the expectant teen Mom as well. Does anybody on tfs ride horses, or rode through your pregnancy? Again...13 WEEKS!!!!!!

A pregnant woman can continue doing whatever she has been doing . As her pregnancy progresses she will slow down . If her balance is effected ,then she needs to adjust her activities to accommodate the physical changes she's experiencing.. I'm not a medical expert. I am repeating what my doc told me during my pregnancies.

they say you should not ride when prego because when you hit that sadle you can brake your water. there have been cases where girls basicly lose their virginity riding because of them hiting the sadle it breakes the hymen so just think about what it would do if you are pregnat

Strong jerking forces can cause a premature separation of the placenta from the uterine wall, which can cause internal bleeding, and death of the mother and/or fetus. It can also cause a tear in the fetuses extremely delicate vascular system which is frequently fatal.

Which is pregnant the horse or the rider? It can't be good for either!

Due to the risk of serious injury caused by falling off, you should only continue horse riding during pregnancy if you are an experienced rider with a horse that you know and trust.
As horse riding is a jerky, bouncy activity, it can put a lot of strain on the ligaments that support the womb.

I think the main concern is falling from the horse, which can happen to even the most experienced rider, so it's not the safest activity - drs prefer you to have a more gentle activity like swimming or yoga.

I'm not a doctor but i don't think a slow ride on a horse would be that bad (like the horse is slowly walking around a paddock) but it doesn't sound like what this girl would be doing.

Could she not put it off for a year? And get someone else to train/exercise the horse in the meantime.
