Where are all you Canadians? One of my heroes, and I read his biography early on, was Dr.
Norman Bethune.

Here is an edited verions of my recollections of him in a PM earlier tonight.

Well, here for you is one rare (hard to find) but to me the high water mark so far. I read it
when I was a fair bit younger and I still identify it as a book that changed, and shaped, my
life. Its called "The Scalpel, the Sword" and it is the story of the life, and untimely death of
Dr. Norman Bethune, a Canadian surgeon who worked, and died, in China in the 1930's.

There is a brief link to his life at:

https://homepage.oanet.com/jaywhy/bethune.htm

He actually died of sceptecemia after cutting himself during an operation he they ran out
of glove, but failed to run out of patients at the same time...

A link to the biography, which is far more compelling, is:

https://meltingpot.fortunecity.com/canada/190/bethune.htm

To me, and its my opinion only, this is a very good life well lived, and an inspiration to all
of us....

I am going to post some of this as a new thread and see if I can scare out any Canadians
to add to my understanding of his story.

In the meantime, if you can get your hands on a copy....

Is he well remembered in Canada, the US, or anywhere else.....? He most certainly
deserves to be...
