Perhaps. I always viewed counseling as being like something one uses to help oneself get back on ones feet, whereas therapy always suggested having someone else help one get better.
Sorry, didn't articulate that particularly well. Hard to describe what I mean.
No need to apologise; there are many people (mostly in the profession) who would distinguish between psychotherapy and counselling. In fact many practitioners argue about it. However, the main thing is that people get what they want from their therapist. I am a great believer in clients informing therapists - it is the clients who are the experts. In light of this I am actually carrying out online research which asks people what they find helpful in therapy.
