1. Take 30 minutes to get some physical exercise (do this 3 to 4 times a week).

2. Try a vegetable you haven't tried yet: artichoke, kale, broccoli rabe.

3. Clean your telephone receiver and computer keyboard with alcohol or disinfectant swabs (you can do this daily).

4. Take immune-boosting vitamins: E (200 to 400 IU); C (500 mg.); B complex (50 mg.); selenium (100 mcg.); zinc (no more than 30 mg.) every day.

5. Get (or give) a hug.

^ how does that one help?

A feel good about yourself which produces endorphins or dopamine? Can't remember the difference right now.

Whichever I don't know I'm still sick and asleep but I think they meant a feeling of goodness about yourself as a whole.

Not all hugs make a person feel good.

Emotional state is closely linked to overall health, especially the immune system. Depression and SAD can seriously affect your immune system. Simple things like hugs or smiles go a long long way towards raising your spirits.

Right, that would reduce your exposure to pathogens. How are you supposed to build up your immune system by sterilising your environment?

That's arguable, actually.

There's obviously no way to sterilize your environment. There's no way to even come anywhere close to anything remotely resembling anything like sterilization.

No matter what we do, we are going to be bombarded by millions and millions of bacteria and other germs every day.

It's conceivable to me that amid this onslaught certain concentrated sources of germs, like keyboards or cell phones, can attack you with enough bacteria to actually weaken your immune system by giving it too much for it to handle efficiently. If that's the case (and I have no idea if it is), it makes sense that cleaning these surfaces of a large portion of their pathogens can help limit the effect.

It's mad the way it affects humans but i just hope cystic fibrosis sufferers stay away from swine flu victims because there immune systems would not cope with the potency of it, I hope they distribute them fairly sharpish because a lot of people have died while vaccines are sitting in laboratories!
