It still surprises me how much there is still to know about our own planet! Only 2 months ago did scientists catch the first glimpses of a bird that was supposebly extinct!

the new mammal was found in the dense central forests of Borneo and is larger than a domestic cat, is dark red in colour and has a long muscular tail.

Yeah I met one of those scientists once and he wanted to claim me as a discovery of a new
mammal. I just couldn't manage to convince him I was anything like new, nor anything like a
mammal. Apparently I'm more like a reptile, but too slimy to be a snake. Nobody knows
what the f*** I am, just that its nasty and that mother nature deserves to have her arse
kicked for being quite this silly

So it's a Vivverid and not a Lemur... It looks like a Lemur to me.

It's pretty cool, but they were saying on the news it might go extinct because of habitat loss. I wonder how many other species are out there that no one knows about.

When they dragged the bottom of the ocean below New Zealand, they found sea creatures that noone knew existed. Even more fascinating is how science fiction they looked.

yeah...i remember hearing about that new zealand thing!
never seen any pic's tho!
I think similar things have been used to detect that MASSIVE squid not long ago!
stuff like this is really interesting but you've got to be in the right place at the right time tho!
and as we need to remember more things are getting extinct then being found!

See that always makes me wonder how can we truly be sure that any given species is actually extinct? There is sooo much uncharted territory... or at least little charted territory. I mean i'm am sure however that dinosaurs no longer roam the earth.. that is a given.
