"It would have been a large quantity because we don't do water dumps while docked to the station now," Clem told SPACE.com in an e-mail. "That is a fairly new restriction over the last couple of flights in order to prevent potential contamination of the Kibo module."

In general, though, spotting space water dumps from Earth is common, Clem said.

Waste water usually freezes upon jettison into a cloud of tiny ice droplets. Then when the sun hits, the ice sublimates directly into water vapor and disperses in space.

That is truly amazing! To see that! And the one observer in Madison, WI even made a correct possible guess of what it was. Amazing, simply amazing. As long as it doesn't start raining chocolate logs, I guess it's okay.

Do you ever remember the old story of back in the day ,when a couple wwas walking on a sidewalk the man always walked on the 'outside' because at any given moment someone might open a window and toss out the nights chamber pot . when i read that report that story came to mind and tthen the silly childs sing song " dirty birdie in the sky ..." just the thought of someone dumping a 150 pounda of chamber pot over head just sounds really IMO .

I know they're dumping it...but it instantly freezes once it hits the space "air" there by a insuing a preservation method.

Thats what I meant.

So what your saying is that the contents of that 150 gallons of chamber pot is floating around frozen up there. Think someone should let all them rocket scientists in on that age old se cert of "what goes up must come down'
The shift will hit the 'fan' some day soon , There is just so much about this that is just so wrong in so many ways ,.IMO
