As a registered sex offender, this guy checked in every year with law enforcement and inspections of his home were even done from time to time. I believe the last home inspection was done in 2006.

I read somewhere that the officers who did that 2006 home inspection are nearly sick with grief - but what are you going to do? Sex offenders are the virtuosos of deceit. It's how they get away with what they do - pretending to be normal.

I agree - law enforcement are trained and should be encouraged to be suspicious and thankfully, in this case, a couple of people were suspicious at the right time.

It would not surprise me if home inspections of sex offenders step up as a result of this. I guess my concern about that is that if sex offenders do have people hidden, as Dugand's was, they will move them off-site to somewhere law enforcement will never find them.
