Joseph Conrad is one of my fav authors. He wrote Heart of Darkness (inspired Coppola's Apocalypse Now) Secret Sharer, Lord Jim, etc...

I love the moder writers because they turn inward and focus on the individual. I got into these writers at the same time I was studying existentialism and they complemented each other really well.

Anyone else a fan of Conrad? Woolf? Hardy? Joyce?

I had to read Heart of Darkness twice. The first time I read it, I thought it was one of the most boring books I ever read.
The second time, I changed my mind. I truly enjoyed his use of words and imagery to describe the river and everything else in the book. It's a good book.

Though that is all I have read of his.
