without a P45.

Does anyone know how I can do this? I don't believe I can have a duplicate P45 so what do I do? The lady at the tax office has said that they might be able to check it on their system if it's been sent in by my previous employer, but it's only a small company and I don't think they have to file things in that financial year, like they can do it 2 years after...

Help?

Just btw I've tried to figure out the bloody HMRC website and it makes no bloody sense to me.

Hi I think I can help with this one - any company that has sent out a P45 would have filed it with the Inland Revenue so if you don't have it then all you need to do is contact them and they should have the details on thier system from which they should be able to help you

AWESOME!!!!

Thank you so much!! I'm owed somewhere between ?700-?1000 in tax back but I can't quite figure out how much

I've got my P60 from my current job but no p45 from my old job (as I stupidly sent everything to my current job and never got 'my' bit back)

Overpayment of tax can be claimed up to 6 years. With the new job then excess tax in the current year should come through your tax coding in PAYE.
