Its tuff guys... really tuff... I have never had a problem finding a job, once I had 8 job offers on the table this time last year, I even got to employers in a bidding war!!
But I have been out of work from being laid off, for 3 weeks and its really getting to me.. I cant even get not one company returning my calls its getting harder and harder...

I have been thinking of going back to the armed forces, i am a little over weight and out of shape and have gain a few debts in my time so not sure if I can get back.. but its that desperate!

Any one else in this trouble like me??

Fortunately not at the moment but I was. It took me about 6 weeks (and then another 10 to start) to find a job.

why dont you see if the RAF has a different job for you, now you are older perhaps they can find something really suitable for the skills you have developed since leaving.

I'm not in that current situation now, cos I'm a student (yay!), but I was once made redundant less than two months after I started my new job. It took me so long to find another one that in the end I decided to go back to education instead!

I agree with Treebee

Have you considered forces recruitment Mark? I know some of the staff are employed through Civi street but have the security of a forces job.

I don't think you'd be out front convincing them, but you do deal with recruitment now don't you?

I do deal with recruitment mostly defence and aerospace engineering cause I hold qualifications and a past in that sector... My plans is maybe go back to the RAF as an officer or maybe change my career...

But i am opening every door I can find, I am relocating in less than a week to Birmingham to live live with the inlaws yo reduce our bills by ?1200! Hope is what i need.. and that needs to come in the form of response....

Are you looking in Birmingham only? Virgin trains can get you into Reading in an hour(ish) which isn't a terrible commute, and you can get to Nottingham in less than an hour.

If you want I've got a friend in transport (I don't know how suitable it would be) in Birmingham and I can ask her to keep an eye out for any jobs.

Mark, definitely we will wish you hope for finding employment soon. At least you're making some right decisions now moving in with the in-laws and all. With your experience though, certainly the military could take some advantage of that. Good luck on that. My hope is
that my two oldest can find jobs within the next few months. Things really are tough all over, and the more layoffs there are, the more difficult/stressful it gets for the remaining workers who then have to adjust to getting the job done though there is less people doing it.
