nirvana versus sex pistols

technically they are punk

here is my reasoning

they are indisputably grunge correct and grunge is a branch of punk correct therefor from that i have concluded that nirvana is punk

nirvana had a few punk songs, and were more punk in attitude than most other grunge bands.

still wouldn't call 'em a straight punk band though.

Nirvana....Because they are/were so epic that grunge cant hold them...they obsorb other genres with their sheer awesomeness.

Nirvana were full of self-loathing and... well, dull, imo. And you can't be punk without having a pop at the establishment. genre aside, the pistols are better anywasy.

Yeah but he also blew his head off with a shotgun. I'm not really sure how much of his opinions I want to subscribe to.

Sex Pistols as Nirvana clearly aren't punk.

Nirvanas very early stuff was put under the punk label i think, and as i recall it (though my memory is clearly disabled by pot, like all Nirvana fans!) it was this band and one or two others who actually launched the grunge genre (known as seattle sound?)

My vote goes to Nirvana. Not because they're punk, but because they are the greatest damn band that ever graced us with MUSIC.

Skypie - I'm kind of under the impression that Kurt would say "f*** you" to anyone labelling his music. He did what he did, and he did it beautifully.
I don't think he'd care for labels much.
