The definition of bible according to Merriam Webster:

Quote:
bi?ble
Pronunciation: ˈb?-bəl
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Old French, from Medieval Latin biblia, from Greek, plural of biblion book, diminutive of byblos papyrus, book, from Byblos, ancient Phoenician city from which papyrus was exported
Date: 14th century
1capitalized a: the sacred scriptures of Christians comprising the Old Testament and the New Testament b: the sacred scriptures of some other religion (as Judaism)
2obsolete : book
3capitalized : a copy or an edition of the Bible
4: a publication that is preeminent especially in authoritativeness or wide readership <the fisherman's bible> <the bible of the entertainment industry>

We all know that the Bible is a collection of writings that Judeo-Christian religion is based on. It was compiled to its current form, mainly by the Council of Nicaea, convened by Constantinople in 325 AD. The books that were left out survive, but why were they never included? (eg: Gospel of Judas Iscariot )Jesus did not quote scripture, he spoke from the heart. What are your thoughts on this?

If the apocrypha had been part of the canon, the Bible would have become even more self-contradictory than it is now. Thus, fewer people would believe in it.

It gets even more interesting when you concider that the "historian"'s goal isn't to tell you about life in Palestine in the year 30, but rather to recruit you into his religion.

it's like God's version of Aseop's Fables.
it teaches us how to live and then also it's about history. Ya know, Moses, Jesus, esc.

when i say Aseop's Fables i'm not trying to be insulting, that's how i saw it

My belief is that religion was created to control the masses. To that end, only what was relevant to control, was included.
