I faced age discrimination once.
There was some huge college entry exam a couple of weeks ago, so my school used the library as a testing room and placed this long tape in front of it so no one would enter or get near the library. I always eat near the library during lunch, but because of this, I decided to sit down on a bench about twenty-five feet away from it to eat.
This security guard came up to me, yelling at me to get away because I was causing a disturbance and demanded me to go eat inside th cafeteria instead.
I tried to explain that the cafeteria was COMPLETELY FULL and that I wasn't causing a disturbance to the people inside the library: "But sir, the cafeteria is full, and I'm eating discreetly. I'm not even close to the library anyways."
And then he said this to me:
"Quit acting like a kindergartener. I'm not going to argue with an insolent five year-old. Now get out of here before I call the principal."
I was extremely pissed, but I did what he told me with all the respect I could give him.
I look back, and I saw him high-fiving an older kid, who was hollering at the top of his lungs.
I went back up to the security and asked why he called me a child while here he was, causing disruptions to the students testing.
He said, "Hey, this boy is older than you, and he knows how to treat his superiors with respect."
I complained to the principal, but I was ignored because he thought I was just bsing the story because I was just a "rebellious kid."
It's ridiculous. There's almost no respect for minors or elders these days.
